| Fiestas de la Virgen Blanca (Vitoria-Gasteiz) |
One example, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, includes the "Pilgrimage of San Prudencio", patron saint of Álava, which is held on 28 April in Armentia, or that of "Olárizu", which takes place in September, to say goodbye to the summer. Large crowds visit the "Fiestas de la Virgen Blanca", patron saint of the capital, which are held from the 4 to the 9 of August.
Also numerous are the Carnival festivals held around the province, and conserving ancestral traditions. One recommended example is the "Carnival of Zalduondo". Also recommendable is the "Day of the Bagpiper, held in Laguardia in May.
There are also festivals held in the winter. This is true of "San Vicente" and "San Anastasio", both held in January in Oyón-Oion. Many festivals for the patron saints of small villages attract a large number of people when held.
