| Salt platforms (Salt mines of Añana) |
The wooden platforms of the
Salt Mines of Añana, with their superposed terraces, compose a singular sight that gives this village a unique personality. It is believed that the salt extraction still uses the system used since Roman times: evaporation of the waters of the River Muera, which are channelled towards these platforms using the slope of the land. Religious and civil architecture of interest complete this ensemble which gives the town a stately aspect.
