During your stay in the Rioja Alavesa, don't miss the opportunity of visiting one of almost 250 wineries dotted around the landscape of this region. It is an entertaining and pleasant manner of exploring the fascinating world of wine.
We propose that you follow the advice provided in the Wine Route of the Rioja Alavesa, which includes some 50 establishments linked to wine tourism (wineries, museums, hotels, restaurants, wine cellars …). The Wine Route has been created with the common objective of ensuring a pleasant stay for visitors to the region and of offering increasingly sophisticated and personalised services.
This Route was designed recently with the support of the General Secretariat for Tourism and was based on criteria set out in the quality charter drawn up by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVINI). In accordance with its strict requirements, the Wine Route has become one of the Certified Routes of Spain.
The map of the region you will find in the brochure-catalogue published by this association provides detailed information about each of the companies that form part of the association. These establishments can be seen in the logotype of the Route published in this guide.
For your visit, you will be able to choose between wineries installed in caves used since the Middle Ages, or in new buildings in which the latest processing techniques are used in harmony with traditional methods. Visits include wine tasting, and in some cases, lunch (reservations must be booked in advance).
